Trudell Family
|
This website is a genealogy database of documents, photos, and information about the Trudell family. The family descends from Francis Trudell (1799-1881) and Mary Iciyapewin (1816-1911). Francis was a French Canadian who came to Minnesota in 1828 to work in the fur trade. In 1835 he married Mary Iciyapewin, a Mdewakanton Dakota. She was the daughter of Wambdisun and Tatekoyakewin. Records of the family of her brother, Henry Wambdisun, are below. The Trudell family was involved on both sides in the 1862 Dakota War, and eventually moved to The Santee Indian Reservation in Nebraska. Today, many descendants still live on reservations in Nebraska and South Dakota.
